Ellen Hobbs Hirshman has been a trial attorney practicing medical malpractice/personal injury law since 1982. She formerly defended hundreds of lawsuits against physicians accused of medical malpractice while working at Jacobson, Maynard.
Since forming her law firm in 1994, Ellen has vigorously pursued claims on behalf of injured patients in medical malpractice, wrongful death, personal injury and nursing home cases. Ellen is uniquely situated in Greater Cleveland and throughout Ohio to serve as lead counsel in representing women. Few women have the depth or breadth of her legal experience. Ellen possesses a passionate commitment to representing those people who need her most, patients and their families whose lives are forever changed by medical mistakes.
Ellen heads the Womens Health Law Center at Linton & Hirshman LLC. She has been intimately involved in women's legal issues for more than 28 years. She knows the pain and loss of dignity that come from injuries to the most private parts of the woman's body. She is well respected as a leading trial attorney by her peers and judges throughout Ohio.
Throughout her years at Linton & Hirshman LLC, Ellen has received significant seven figure recoveries for her clients. In 2009, Bob Linton, Steve Keefe and Ellen received a $15.6 million dollar verdict against MetroHealth Medical Center. The verdict was for an 18 year old high school student who was left quadraplegic and blind due to the admitted malpractice of the hospital. The verdict was substantially more than the offer made by the hospital's insurance company.
Ellen serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys. She is also a member of the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys Newsletter Committee who is responsible for publishing the CATA Newsletter, a vital link to attorneys throughout northeast Ohio.
From 1996 - 1998, Ellen sat as a Commissioner on the Board of Commissioners for Grievances and Discipline, a Board which reports directly to the Ohio Supreme Court. This Board is responsible for adjudicating and enforcing all claims of lawyer and judicial misconduct.
Ellen also holds Martindale Hubbell's highest AV rating of "very high to superior" legal ability, based on confidential surveys of her peers. She has been asked to lecture on trial tactics and techniques by the Ohio Association for Justice and the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys.
